Service Tax Registration

Service tax is not specific to a particular service. It is levied on various services as laid down in the Finance Act of 1994. The service providers have to be registered under the central government for this type of registration if the annual turnover for the year preceding is 9 lakhs. The service tax will, however, be collected once the turnover goes up to 10 lakhs. The rate at which it is collected is 15%.

Service taxes are filed twice a year. For the bracket 1st of April to 30th of Sept, the date is 25th October and for the bracket 1st of Oct to 31st of Mar, the date is 25th of April.
